On June 29, 2023, the Department of Social Services (“DSS”) implemented significant revisions to the CityFHEPS rental assistance program.

Bonus Payment Structure

The key change is an increase in the bonus payment structure for landlords owning properties within certain zip codes. This change is effective through December 31, 2023.

Incentive for Landlords

CityFHEPS is now offering a landlord a bonus equivalent to two month’s rent. This bonus is available if the landlord successfully leases a unit to a CityFHEPS voucher holder in one of the designated zip code areas.

Selection Process for Zip Codes

The selection process for these zip codes considered several factors. These include rental market conditions, availability of affordable housing, proximity to essential services, and community support systems.
